In the bustling heart of Hong Kong, Atelier Stasis was brought to life in 2022 by co-founders Lawrence and Sam. This dynamic duo set out to redefine the boundaries of custom content creation, specializing in corporate videos, professional editorial work, and multimedia productions that resonate with audiences globally.
With a commitment to excellence and a keen eye for detail, Atelier Stasis has earned the trust of prestigious clients such as Hong Kong Land, Citybus and Shopline (HK), solidifying its reputation as a beacon of creativity and innovation in Hong Kong's multimedia landscape.
Lawrence Lai, a co-founder of Atelier Stasis, is an alumnus of the Hong Kong Academy for Performing Arts, School of Film and Television, where he majored in Directing. His diverse body of work ranges from fictional shorts to television series. His graduation project, "Being" (2011), garnered critical acclaim, winning the "Golden Award" at the 4th Short circuit Student Film festival, "Best Fiction" at the Hangzhou Asian Film Festival, and "Outstanding Experimental Film Award" at the 9th Global Chinese Universities Student Film and Television Festival. It was also selected for multiple international film festivals. Lawrence's journey continued with the creation of "The Flauner" (2012) and "Go" (2015), the latter winning "Best Performance - Direction" by Web Audiences’ Choice.
Venturing into television, Lawrence directed the 45-minute TV drama "Being on the Island" for RTHK. His exploration of existential themes then expanded to the digital realm with short documentaries for HK01's Hong Kong Realism column. At Atelier Stasis, Lawrence continues to question our existence while seeking new media frontiers and honing his storytelling craft.
Sam Yip, co-founder and production maestro of Atelier Stasis, shares a history with Lawrence as a fellow graduate from HKAPA, where he majored in Production Administration. A decorated figure in the news industry, Sam's lens has captured pivotal moments, earning him accolades such as "1st Runner-up, Spot News, Focus at the Frontline", multiple Hong Kong Press Photographer Association awards and the prestigious 2020 Human Rights Press Awards for Investigative Feature Writing (Chinese) on "Hidden Victims — Drug Mules: Investigation of Cross Border Human Trafficking" with his team at HK01. His experience spans over a decade across Asia, documenting events from protests to sports, and feature stories. Sam's transition from the adrenaline-fueled frontlines back to his roots in Hong Kong has seen him create impactful visuals for local media giants like HK01 and TVB.
At Atelier Stasis, Sam leverages his profound experience to produce compelling videos and graphics, telling stories that matter and crafting legacies through the camera's eye.
